Figured it is about time I put up a build thread for the most hated person on the board... Been building this car over the last year or so. Started it last March and had a few changes as far as what we were planning on doing but have a good direction now. Planning to do some Iowa 10.5 racing with it and some heads up racing as well.
Really coming along now. I will have more updates as I go.
Here are some of the "highlights" if you will....
MWC 9"
MWC tubular everything out back
88mm T6 turbo
370 6.0 block motor w/ AFR heads
Custom mount fuel cell for the rear
Powerglide w/ Neal Chance Convertor
Dual rear Strange brakes (converted from single)
Basically a ground up build...
I will post up more pics along the way.
We figured a good start would to be wash off the dust that the car had collected...
Custom mounts I machined/welded to mount the turbo on the passenger frame rail
Got some crossover piping mocked
Wanted to leave the stock hood latch (on top of hood pins) so I cut into the radiator core with the plasma to recess the radiator/stand it up.
Making some filler panels to weld back where we cut
Car already had this bulkhead/compartment from its NMCA days, so we found a 15 gallon fuel cell that would work in here and mounted it, worked pretty good.
Owner bought this Burkhart front bumper support to save weight/keep the bumper from collapsing. Time to mount the intercooler inside of this beast...
...and the bumper fits back on, thats a good thing!
Time for a little Downpipe fab...
Passing it through the BMR Turbo K-Member... Exhaust turns down and ends about where the middle of the transmission is per Andy's request...
Welding up some joints...
Ready to put the two-piece DP back on and cold side...
Cold and hot side all done... Custom Alternator bracket started..
Modified the rear brakes to dual caliper for a little more boost building ability...
Car is back from paint... Turned out EXCELLENTE!!!
Finally done smoothing out the radiator core support I redid.
Motor is all done, painted, and ready to toss in!
So is the transmission (powerglide) with Neal Chance Convertor... Neal Chance is an amazing company to work with btw! Marty is the mannn....
How the car sits now...
Got all of the body wiring done and made this panel. I wanted one panel that I could easily take out that had all of the cars main electronics (relay board) as well as the Holley HP EFI we are using here. I went ahead and wired it all up and added a weather pack connector for easy removal/installation.
Hot side/downpipe is off to coating at QC Coatings... As soon as that comes back, we will be very close to dropping it all in and firing it up. Will post up more pics as they come in!
