you thinkin 700ish hp out of this thing. looks like some killer parts for a budget build i'll say 9.50 at 145mph. purdy much a blind dart throw

I really have no idea what kind of HP this thing will make, I was more concerned with how it accelerated down track - hence the way I built the 306. I will start by doing some remedial tuning on the street. And slowly turn up the wick at the track. Once I turn the boost near 15 pounds I hope to be solidly in the 9's... but its really only a hope and a guess as I have never owned a turbo car before.

I dont think so, no.
1. its a 68 block, not a roller block.
2. it has main studs, not bolts.
3. Its a Turbo, not a belt driven supercharger
4. Because of #3 it will not see much more than 6k RPM.
With all those factors, I feel I am pretty safe. If it blows up - well, I was wrong and I will utilize an aftermarket block next time.

I really need to stop out and look at this thing myself. I'm sure it will inspire me to get moving on my project car. Maybe I'll just buy this setup off you once you decide to switch to a different setup. Also, those rockers look extremely bling!

If I can figure out the electrical issues... it should be running this weekend. Feel free to stop by...

I'll have to stop out tomorrow for a bit and see how things are going. I've been helping with another turbo project as of late also and wouldn't mind seeing the turbo 306 again. Ahh... turbo V8.

Absolutely beautiful all the way around man! The engine bay is spectacular. You did a helluva great job fabing up and welding that all together. Wow.

Nothing yet, no. Life and the weather have kept me from the track... maybe this weekend. If I dont get to the track this year, I may get it dynoed...

Just thought I would update in case anyone was wondering. Made a few changes over the winter... now I am afraid the Turbo will be on the small side.
Dart block forged crank - offset ground 5.4" H-beam rod w/ 2.1 chevy big end SRS piston
Jesel 1.7 shaft rockers
Proshifted MMR TKO600 trans Zoom Kevlar clutch
I pulled it apart after the only track outing I got on the old combo - where it would only spool 3psi before the clutch was gone and some other issues arose. I found a few things that made me decide to upgrade a bit ... so, obviously, we are looking for a bunch more power this go around.
I will post up some pics as soon as I get batteries in the camera.
Maybe Tim will post some pics of the welding he is doing in the engine bay as soon as he gets a chance to work on it for me.

Well I had a few hours yesterday and made some progress. The little stuff takes forever! The pickup stud is huge (as its designed for a Windsor (1/2 main studs). So it needed to be cut down so I could fit the oil pan. Cut down - oil pump and pickup installed. Oil pan studs installed. Just a picture of the Rods/bolts. Head studs installed.

Made some more progress yesterday. New timing chain (which required the countersunk bolts) versus the mere mortals timing chain. setting up to test the "lift at TDC" of the cam. Yeah thats a Penny. Its how I roll... dimes are to expensive. I just stuck that to the lifter to give my dial indicator something to sit on. Cam sheet specs Lift at TDC as "411"... my numbers checked out at "409". Good enough for the girls I date! Next was clay checking the piston for "P to V" clearance. I was "A-OK"... in fact, I dont even think the exhaust valve touched the clay. Chamber shape I then checked pushrod length. 6.7". Pretty good line if I do say so myself... Engine is now ready to be buttoned up.

I had Tim do some work on smoothing out the engine bay. Passenger side patch panel. Drivers side patch panel. I removed the heater core etc... so that was filled as well. All the panels are from Scott Rod Fab. Now I need to get moving on smoothing it all out....

Smoothed-out engine bays always look nice and Tim is just the right person to have doing it. Keep up the excellent work guys and keep posting more progress pics!

Snag - The throttle linkage was hitting my fuel rail so I have been messing with spacers to get it to work and to keep the bonnet height the same as with the old Holley. Turns out I needed a 1 3/8" spacer. So, instead of stacking gaskets etc I am just having one made. It never ends....
