I don't like it when companies rip people either, but their is a system in place to prevent those actions. If the individual who invents something applies for a patent he can protect himself from being ripped off. Have any of these people who have been ripped off sued UPR and won for patent infringement? this is the only part i'll comment on. i have friends who make parts for the bike industry. they have said numerous times that patent infringement laws are useless for smaller companies like this. by the time you get the patent, sue the copier, wait for restitution, then don't get shit cause they don't have corporate type of money. it isn't even worth the hassle in doing. all they can do is have a better product with better service.

It's not an isolated incident though. It's not just about the part breaking, it's about the service. You even saw at the beginning of this thread, they wanted to blame anyone but themselves.
A lot of products they rip off are patented or have a patent pending. But these small shops just don't have the money to take them to court.
Of course you can trust them if you want. They're not getting my money, and no one is going to convince me otherwise. There's too many great companies out there that I can go to, without having to worry about "what ifs".

UPR is not a giant company that has large amounts of money to fight lawsuits either.
I guess I'll just state my opinion of UPR in no uncertain terms. I think they are a mediocre company that caters as much to ricers as diehard racers and the suspension components they offer represent the bottom rung quality wise of the more serious racing parts.
If you are on a tight budget and needed better than your average Lakewood or BBK boxed non-adjustable control arms then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend UPR to you. If you wanted the best quality parts or had a larger budget then I would recommend Team Z or Baseline. Ask anyone that knows me and they will confirm that I have given this advice.
As far as UPR quality or shadiness my opinion is this. I know Bob Kurgan and trust him as all his opinions have been correct in the past concerning projects we have worked on. He has used/uses UPR suspension components and has personally told us they are okay. Until experience says different I am going to take Bob's word on it. For the record he sells UPR, Baseline and Team Z so its not like he's biased for the sake of profit.

**UPDATE** changed title to make it better suited to my feelings now!
I spoke with a manager of UPR today. He wanted to know exactly what happened and wanted some info on the car and once i told him everything he definately agreed with me that the weld shouldn't have broke and that he is gonna have the issue addressed immediately. He said the previous kid didn't know what he was talking about when he told me that the control arms i had weren't suited for my application. The guy was really helpful and kept apologizing for it and told me if i ever need anything from UPR again that i need to contact him directly and he will "hook me up" with special pricing anytime i place an order. He also asked if there was any damage besides the busted control arm and i told him about the new tire being chewed up and he said he would replace it! He was contacting Mickey Thompson to have a new tire dropshipped to my house. I also told him that there was gear lube leaking around the pinion seal and he said to let me know if there is anything else he can do for me. Just wanted to clarify this whole situation for some people and let them know that UPR isn't doing me wrong. They are being awesome about the situation.

**UPDATE**
well tonight after looking more carefully, i noticed that both shocks are junk as well....I left a message for the UPR manager so we'll see what they have to say. So far its costing, 1 M/T tire, 2 strange adj. shocks, rearend being taken apart to change pinion seal, probably gonna put new U-joints in as well since everything was at an extreme angle
