I met some people I didn't know. You're taking me too literally. The points I made still stand.

Shit I didn't know anyone, sometimes you just gotta step out of the comfort zone, especially when it's an open invitation to anyone and everyone. If nothing else, a weekend thing/a monthly thing can be set up, mini meet at skate city/yates and then go grab a bite to eat during the weekend somewhere. I forgot to take pictures, but there were definitely some decent cars out. I will definitely be at as many of these as I can be.

I forgot to take pictures, but there were definitely some decent cars out. I will definitely be at as many of these as I can be. Step out of my comfort zone? You've got to be kidding me. This entire meet you guys have set up is purely within your comfort zones. This isn't a matter of being too shy to meet people, it's a matter of a ridiculous spot to meet at a ridiculous time. How are other people going to be aware of this? People that don't meet the forum. Are we intending to keep this a super secret location for forum members only? This whole thing just seems silly. I moved here from Portland, OR where there was over 2.3million people in the metro area. Meeting up with people is not a new thing for me. I'm simply regurgitating what I've seen actually work and be successful. This just simply seems like a tiny little meet for forum buddies to hang out where it's not really going to blossom into much at all. If that's the intention, then so be it I guess. I just had grander things in mind. Let's face it, I don't expect to replicate here what was accomplished over there...but I can tell you right now this is going to stay a small affair. Having something on the weekend, especially during the day...would work out great. Meet and chat for a while, a place where food may be available, people passing by with other cars could stop and spread the word, and it leaves room for those who want to go for a cruise somewhere to discuss a plan. It doesn't always have to be during the day, night would work too...but things like this have a better chance at actually evolving into something a bit more grand.

Sorry we have not taken your feelings into account.
Pretty sure the Northpark cruise is tonight maybe that would be better suited for you..

You have to go to Chicago for huge car meets on the weekends. We don't have any of that here. There aren't enough people in the area.

Hey demonz I hear what your saying and if you want to start a thread and set something like that up, then more power to you. I'd be willing to help if you need. Pick a date and time, start promoting the shit out of it and I'll do my best to show up and hang out. But in the mean time these small meetups are sort of the idea to making this board better.. Just a small deal with a few of us on here who are interested in meeting up if they are able to make it maybe once a month. I met at least 5 new people and got to look at some cool cars. It was bad ass! The poll results showed what the majority wanted and we made it happen. Would you rather try a Sunday afternoon or night somewhere? I'd be down for that? Hell lets take a cruise from IL to IA and stop a few places for all I care. I'm down for whatever.

Hell lets take a cruise from IL to IA and stop a few places for all I care. I'm down for whatever. I'd be up for a Friday night, Saturday any time, Sunday morning/afternoon meet and/or cruise. I might start another thread to see if we can get another type of meet going...but if everyone has decided to to do the during-the-week deal...would anyone still be interested? One way to find out I guess. I simply don't understand how doing a tiny meet that is only truly open to forum members (who else is going to know about it) is going to help the forum. Sure, some of the guys who stumble onto this forum like I did will meet some new people...but beyond that it's the same faces that everybody already knows and the same faces that just post silly threads on the forum all the time. That's fine and dandy, but I think the only way the forum is going to truly get that much better is with growth, and growth requires new people. If the meet limits it to forum members only, it makes that a near impossibility. Just my thoughts...

Its mostly new faces to me because I just finished my 3 year build and haven't been in the car scene since high school. I see how it might seem like we are trying to keep it small with just members from this board, but most things don't start off crazy huge. They start small with a few people who know each other well and the more they keep meeting and people start finding out about it, then the bigger it should get. We also have to keep in mind the bigger we make this, the more chance there is for stupid people to make there way to it and then we have all the shit we just preached about saying we didn't want.
Lets try it though! I'm down for getting a big group together on a Saturday or Sunday and doing a cruise for a bit. Of course I work Saturdays, so advance notice is good so we Saturday workers can get it off.

I don't think you understand demonz, I literally did not know a single person when I went, it just so happened that the poll decided yates would be a good place to go, we'll switch up the location every time and day when needed.
I'm not trying to offend anyone just get some people together because it seems like this area is a bit lacking. I work saturdays and some sundays, just from my prior experience with the missouri forum, weeknights tend to work out a bit better for most, seeing how this seems to be different here, we'll try to accommodate to the bigger crowd.
Either way, the meet wasn't huge at all, I just thought a little get together that anyone is welcome to come to and meet some diff people for a change however it works out would be nice. I'll add more here in a little bit, seems like this needs to be a bit more organized to attract more people, my apologies I should've taken the initiative to do so. Obviously we aren't going to be able to make everyone's schedule work into this, but the more the better.
For right now, I'm thinking "get together" every other week during the week, and then the opposite weeks have a little friday night/saturday/sunday mini meet. Anyone else have any ideas? I'm more than open to suggestions, the point is to try to get as many people on here to know each other a bit better/open up and possibly attract more people. The QC area isn't huge, but this forum has a lot of potential for expansion. I've got 3 buddies signing up this week and planning to come out to a few of the meets, let's get it going.

We'll get something figured out for both sides of this, one week during the week, the next during the weekend, etc. And try planning a little ahead next time for meet ups, I'm trying to get whoever else involved that wants to be, no one guy runs this lol, just get some shit going and everyone be happy.

Since there were complaints, I waited for someone else to think of a better time/place to do this, and seeing how it's been dead, I think I'll just keep on keepin' on. Skating rink sometime this week anyone?

I'm down for next week hawaii. Me and the lady are doing the Mississippi Valley fair deal this week, so I'm a no go. Buuuut the camaro is runnin good and ready to mingle. What do you say to next Thursday night August 11th? This should give a few people time to plan ahead for it if they want to attend. I met a fellow third gen guy from the carbon cliff area and I'm sure he will come and chill with us. Maybe take a little cruise down the ave? lets start a new thread for it!
