What county are you in? You should be able to get an ariel view from the county that shows your property lines to give you an idea where to start looking. Then you can use a metal detector to find the pins. I was quoted 2500.00 to survey 5 acres. I got a copy of my plot and we found my pins within a half hour. Most propertys have pins unless they were removed by someone.

Did the view show the property lines? When property is divided into parcels it is required to be recorded and stakes put in or some type of marker like a utility pole or something. Have you asked your neighbors or the county if they have an idea? The pins could be a few inches below the grade depends how long its been since lines were established. Unless the property has been in your family for a very long time the boundries have to be recorded, i would try to find them yourself. I wouldnt want to pay someone 2500 bucks for an hours worth of work.
