Tomorrow all the union construction brothers will get together at Mennards on 53rd and welcome way from 9am-11am. Please join them because all of the "scabs" took the jobs. While building the new mennards in davenport.

I've seen a few union companies at the new Menards tho
Plus I remember working for Menards and one of the interview questions was have you ever been part of a union, when I was 18 lol

The work was slated to go to the unions, but Menards flip it on em' at the last minute. I know a union contractor poured & finished the concrete back when they were pouring the footings, foundations, and floors.

Did Menard's already have a contract with a Union company or was it a handshake deal and then they got a better bid from a non-Union? If it was the former then they did wrong. If the latter then I don't see a problem.

Not sure I just seen this on Facebook from my friends that are in the union I know not all of them but most of the contractors are non unions, I just pretty much copy and pasted his thread, they always protest when we get a job in the quad cities, it doesn't really effect me though, I see it as everyone isn't worth the same pay and I don't have to pay to work plus I'll never get laid off because of seniority again.

Unions have their uses. I think in a lot of ways the Union leadership does not represent the membership anymore. They negotiate for what is good for the corporation (Union) and to hell with the membership.

I wish I had a union at work. Could use more pay, better healthcare and some security from being termed for no reason. Probably put my boss out of business though... Damn small business is tough.

ive been no union and union being in a union factory i think the unions are diffrent. they dont take care of there trades and there production is the bread and butter. i do know that the saftey stuff is only to prove to the state that they have the rules and training in place. on the floor its always a push to do the wrong thing by the managment. so the union is good there. i know whenever i have a suggestion or concern the company could give a crap less. they blame it on the union. thats a union issue they say. i think they parcially like the union because they just pass all the work onto them. just like hostess. despite the fact that most of hostess was non union hostess walked out of there smelling like roses with the union taking the hit. had nothing to do with the ceos or mismangemtn.
