Hey guys. Finally got my '86 Vert to my house to begin working on her.. Came with new carpet, new center console, new trunk, has new suspension all the way around (OEM ) has a new top and all new top hardware. Came with a new top motor/pump and plumbing. Stock other than BBK CAI, BBK Off-road H and some kind of flowmaster's. It also has 3.73's with limited slip. Supposedly brand new diff.
The plan:
To start I'm going to try and pick up a Exploder long block and a used nitrous kit on the cheap. Also convert to MAF and run Megasquirt's new PNP 2 setup. Then go on the search for a T-56.
Once I have that pinned down I'm going to shore up the suspension with full SFC's, welded torque boxes and a cage.
After that do the rear end. Not 100% sure how far I'm going to take it. I am debating whether or not I want to do a 5 lug swap and rear discs or not. But I will be doing aftermarket struts, Ford Racing springs, aftermarket upper and lower control arm's and maybe a PHB setup.
Once that is done I'll be on the hunt for a Coyote motor, tubular K-member, tubular control arm's, coyote swap L.T.'s and a modular bell-housing for the T-56.
If I haven't sold it by that time it will be getting a small snail and I'll finish it off with paint and bodywork.
Here she is in her native habitat WITH my tools. Which also finally made it to their new home!
Goal is low 11's on the budget build and then as deep as I can going into the 10's on the coyote combo. I am trying to polish my tuning skills, which is why I'm going with a stand alone right out of the gate. So I won't be doing a road race/auto-cross build this go around as I want to concentrate on tuning in the most economical way possible. Relatively speaking.
