Im currently at war with myself. I cant decide if i want to swap to a t56 or not. I want it for the fun factor but not for the breaking of the factory 10 bolt on a hard launch. Currently running a 4l60e by maxwell, a circle d 3200 stall and 3.90 gears. I like the way it drives with the stall and gears but i miss shifting gears. I would say i can just drive it until the transmission takes a crap. But i will probably kill the rear end before that happens.. Or i can just do a head/cam swap with a bottle and see how long both will hold up and replace them when the time comes.
Thoughts, comments ot concerns??

Yeah... the 6 speed world gets expensive too. Getting a decent pressure plate and clutch, if you somehow happen to get a good stock 6 speed with no syncro problems good. But usually they have issue, which means you need to rebuild, and 6 speeds are NOT cheap to rebuild, even if you do it yourself.
Stick with what you got IMO or buy a different car that already has a 6 speed in it. But then again, I did a 6 speed swap on my first car when I was 17. So I understand you wanting to

Yea, i was shopping around and i found some rebuilt transmissions for $2000. And a clutch/flywheel kit for around $720. So thats atleast $3000 in just the main stuff. After all the other bs id probably be sitting around $4000 by the time i finished. Say id sell my current transmission/stall for around $800-900.. Still atleast $3000 investment just to shift gears again.. I toyed with the idea of selling it. But if i did that id probably end up with a ls swaped fox body and spend way too much money taking it to where id want it to be. Plus, i like my car since i have a rare hood now. Atleast it is different from the other fbodys rollin around here. Might not be as fast, but atleast it will look as good as i do.

You could always go the TKO-500 or 600 route. Its not quite as expensive and will get you banging gears again.

i say do H/C bottle and see how long it holds together. Then fix the broken parts with whatever you decide you want at that time. As for going to a six speed, i can see the desire, but, i will tell you they are notchy as hell! Atleast mine is anyway.

That's probably what I'll end up doing. I think i can make things last a while as long as I don't spray out of the hole

Heads, cam & bottle. Elec was running awesome times with a similar setup and it was super drive-able and easy on the rear end.

Im currently researching cam options. I don't want a cam that would make the car a pain to drive with the 3200 stall. And I don't want something that will take from the low end torque. I still need something with nice low end grunt for fun off the bottle too. As far as heads, I'm open to suggestions. I may just go with some stock 243's

Something in the low 230 duration would probably be the ticket
