The jack I had finally broke so I am in the market for a new one. I was thinking about an aluminum low profile unit. All the craftsman reviews are terrible and I don't want to waste my money on a habor frieght piece.
Anyone have any recommendations? Opinions?

I have a 2 ton low profile aluminum harbor freight one that we use everyday at my work. Its about 4 years old and still works great. I also have one at home it still works like new, but it only gets used once in awhile.

My floor jack is the same basic orange Harbor Freight that everybody and their dad owns. I have owned mine for MANY years, used the crap out of it, and it still works fine. Just my .02.

Ok let me pretense this rant by saying I have spent a couple years looking for a good floor jack like they used to make back in the day. I found one! It is a Hein Werner brand. It is literally the only company I could find that still made everything in the USA. In fact my dads old floor jack which was a blackhawk brand which was the best made back in the day was purchased by Hein Werner in the 80s and I believe this is a reproduction of it. It has cast iron pieces where it needs it, flanges steel sides, big casters, good hydraulic pump, and can definitely over lift its capacity of 2 tons by probably double. You can find these on thetoolwarehouse.net the cheapest. I think if you sign up for their newsletter you even get 10%off and then free shipping on all orders over 100$. Definitely the last floor jack I will ever have to buy.

i got a new jack two years ago for christmas. it's a crapsman and has one major flaw you wouldn't think to look for. the handle when at rest doesn't go perpendicular or even lean over the jack. it lays back to maybe 1 or 2 oclock position making it a PITA to walk around in the garage. fukkin thing has jabbed me more times than i can count. never had a jack do this and wouldn't have even thought of lookin at it had i been the one to buy it.

Hmmm...I figured at your height, you would have walked into the side of the jack handle before you would have had the end of it jab you. lol ;D

Thanks for the input guys, I'll probably go with the american made Hein-Werner unit, if someone is proud enough to post pictures of their jack on the forum, I'm all for it!

Be careful asking for a "Show Off Your 'Jack'" thread! Thad would probably post something VERY inappropriate. Hell, he just found out yesterday that "Homo Erectus" didn't mean what he hoped it did. Apparently he has his own thoughts on the definition. ;D

Hein warners are great jacks.. They made them for several mfg including Napa. If you can find them they're worth the price and totally rebuildable if the seals go bad.. the harbor freight jacks are great jacks for the money but are disposable. They can be rebuilt but not worth it as they can be replaced for half the price.. where did you get your Hein Warner at Doug?? I haven't seen one since I worked at motion industries doing hydraulic repair.

These are the jacks you buy once and never have to replace.. there's a reason they're still made in America and are the only one left in america

I have had 3 crapsmen low pro aluminum jacks and they all blow.. I returned my old model 3 times before they gave me the new model and then the new model has the same issues as the old one. Use it like twice and it start leaking fluid. I am going to replace it with a quality jack one of these days but it just hasn't been in the budget yet.
I'll be picking up a HW for sure as soon as I can swing it.
