I'm looking for a place to get my T56 rebuilt that's competitive with tick and isn't booked months out. Any ideas? For reference... www.tickperformance.com/tick-performance-level-1-standard-t56-rebuild-450rwtq-for-93-02-camaro-firebird/My shifter is like stirring concrete with a stick today after passing in 4th gear (slow ass pass on rt 84)... with a great deal of effort I can get it into gear but I'm not sure I'm going to get the stupid thing home with out a trailer. I planned on pulling the trans myself and just dropping it off / shipping it. Thanks! Robert

FLT and RPM rebuild T56's, but I'm not sure how booked up they are. When I ordered a trans through FLT in the beginning of October it only took two weeks. Plus they're somewhat local so you can save some coin on shipping.

Someone suggest 2&92 over in Silvis. Any input on that? I'm hoping for something quicker than two weeks... ugh that would suck.

Never heard of them, but from what I gather they're diesel mechanics. Going by your OP I'm guessing Tick is pretty booked. Maybe you can purchase a rebuild kit and have a local shop install the parts.

2 and 92 is ok. I don't know if I'd use them for any kind of performance build though.

Actually on that note I haven't had a lot of luck with some of the local shops I've had rebuilding manuals for my work lately. I'm not sure what the deal is but the past few haven't turned out all that great. You might just be better off sending it out to someone who specializes in them. It might be worth the wait in the long run.

Yeah :/ might not have a choice here. I have access to a lift / heated garage now and the money so I just need to get the ball rolling. I'll check with tick on turnaround and go from there.

Huge derp moment on my end... I forgot about them until someone else asked if I had talked to Transmissions Plus. Dropped it off this morning and will find out the damage when they get it apart.

Had some damage (reverse and 4th gear had to be replaced)... but should have the trans in a week or two. Ordered ls7 clutch kit, slave and picking up a mityvac to deal with bleeding. Should be good to go soon.

Clutch kit is here, as soon as the trans is ready I can get the Z back together. I hate driving the trailblazer. Aargh

have a mobile installed (assistant chief on Albany fire). ICom IC-F5021 It's honestly not that bad with good tires. I've only had one close call and that was my own doing (got overly confident)... Otherwise slow and steady seems to work well. With all the Prius drivers out there I only get to do 45mph on rt84 in the winter anyways. Lol

Nice! Was the price reasonable?

Yeah, I had some damaged gears which quickly increased the price. I believe final price for the trans rebuild is around 1900 (with tax).

Did they offer a warranty? Stock rebuild or some good parts?

1 year and some parts are upgraded (I can't remember exactly which, carbon blockers?). Way too much going on to remember anything anymore. Haha

Looks like the 25th will be the install date. Guy who owns the garage is out of town until then and trans won't be done until 21st or 22nd anyways. All lined up and ready to go on my end. Can't wait to drive the thing again.... How do you guys manage to go all winter?

Got the car finished last night. My rear main was leaking, I needed a pilot bearing and picked up the trans jack a few days later than I had hoped so I was delayed finishing it Monday like I had hoped. All good seems to be running great and trans is nice and smooth. I can already tell a difference in the clutch too... This ls7 clutch is heavier and it's easily noticed during takeoff from a dead stop. Seems to be "easier" to get it moving. Be a while before I can try rowing the gears... need to break everything in first.
