so their tires would be $189. and i would imagine they mount and balance them for the day. $2 is cheap for mounting and balancing

The tires sized for my Buell are more expensive as well, it depends on your size. In any case, I'll need the tires soon enough so it isn't a big issue for me.
I will be running the Novice group. This is my first time going out on a track, and I really don't have that much experience on a proper sportbike yet since I just got the Buell in October. My buddy will be bringing his CBR1000RR out for the first time too so it should be lots of fun.
I drove up to Duluth MN this weekend to get fitted for an Aerostitch suit. Due to my very tall and very thin size there is literally nothing "off the rack" that fits me (have been looking for 4 years). Decided to bite the bullet for something custom made so I can have some protection out there now that I have a performance oriented bike. I'll probably order it this week, but they'll be adding 2" to the sleeves and 6" to the legs on their tall sized 2 piece to make it fit me. It is a bit pricey, but it will be nice to have some protection when riding, and it will qualify me to run track days. Just need to pick up some pucks and I should be set. :-)

So what they mount your tires for you when you get their? I doubt that.
But anyways.
I will most definally look into it, I'v been wanting to go to track for a while.
I have leather jacket and pants, I don't know if they have any kind of standards for the leathers, I will have to look into that.
I have a 02 Kawasaki Zrx I'll do some research and let ya know.
Are you going for both days?

So what they mount your tires for you when you get their? I doubt that. uhhhhhhhhhhh yeah, actually they usually do. i've been to a few of these and they always have a few tire machines set up to do it. this one might be different but if they are advertising i would think they are.

They will be able to mount them at the track if you want them to. But they ship the tires to your house so you can do it beforehand if you would rather. I just got shipping confirmation today so they are on their way, my buddy already has his.
You will want to read their policies on leathers and gear. It varies by run group, but protective gear is required and jeans don't count. I think your jacket and pants have to attach but I'm not 100% sure on that. All of their policies etc are detailed pretty well on their website if I recall so I would recomend reading them before you go.
I will be doing both days.

I'd like to head out with you guys. I to have never been on a track. What kind of riding equipment are you using?(helmet, jacket, boots,...etc)
I just have a helmet, gloves, jacket, and some decent steel toe boots. I just need a front tire so that will be no big deal. I bought a new back one towards the end of last year. I'm riding a Gixxer 600 if your wondering. It's pretty much stock. I think the only I've "modded" was putting a R6 throttle tube on.

From their website: Rider Gear Requirements: 1) Damage free BSI, DOT or SNELL full-face helmet with face shield. 2) Riding boots that fully cover the ankle. 3) Gauntlet style gloves with full wrist coverage. 4) One or two piece leathers. Two piece leather suits must zip together for Novice, Intermediate or Advanced groups. Ballistic nylon suits such as Joe Rocket, AeroStitch etc. are acceptable in the Novice and Intermediate Group provided they are either one piece or two piece that zip together with 50% zipper contact, reinforced and padded shoulders, elbows, hips, and knee areas. No chaps. 5) Advanced and Intermediate group riders are required to wear back protectors. Soft back pads sewn into suits are not enough. We sell Bohn and Knox back protectors at special STT member discounts. We can arrange to deliver your new back protector to you the day of your event or ship it to your home. We have a limited number of back protectors for rent at each event. 6) STT also asks that you consider the use of a chest protector. I plan to wear a 2 piece Aerostitch that zips together. I still need to pick up some proper gloves, and will probably get proper riding boots as well. I assume my friend will be wearing his 1 piece leathers, and I know he has motorcycle boots and gloves already. The other thing I'm really looking at picking up is a back protector and try to find some sliders for the bike.

How tall are you? The new suit looks great! Jesse I'm 6'6" and only weigh around 165lbs. Plus, all my height is in my legs. Aerostitch had to take their 38 tall pant (38 being chest size, not waist) and add 5" to the legs to make it fit me. The jacket is a 40 tall (probably a size or two too big, but will allow me to layer and wear a back protector) and they added 2" to the sleeves on that. If I were to buy off the shelf, I'd need a small to medium chest size with the length of a XXL tall for the jacket. Pants? Forget it, nothing is even close. That's why I never had any proper riding gear before now, and I looked everywhere. I couldn't bring myself to spend a grand on pants and a jacket (not counting gloves, boots, and helmet) when I paid $300 for the bike I was riding at the time :-) When I got the Buell this fall... I could put it off no longer. Plus, I'm no longer a broke college student so that helps a lot as well.

Yeah, for the novice and intermediate levels you can use a textile garmet as long as the pants zip to the jacket most of the way around (not just a 6" zipper strip in the back). They specifically call it "Aerostitch style" suit when they are trying to describe what they mean. I have Velcro knee's to allow me to add knee sliders as well.
For the advanced run group, or real racing, you need leathers. Period. I however, am a long long way from being there. The 'Stitch is more for day to day, with the added benefit that it lets me explore the track as well.

From what I understand, there is no replacement for race leathers. However, a good heavy textile like the aerostitch will provide adequate protection in most scenarios at highway speeds. The biggest difference is, a textile is usually a "one and done" type garment. Any major wreck will usually total the gear beyond repair where as race leathers can frequently be used again and again. With each crash being unique there is no rule of course. The leathers can also hold up to a very high speed wreck better where I don't think the textile stuff is designed to survive a slide a much over 80mph or so.
But, when it comes down to it, if the gear isn't comfortable you won't use it. If it takes you 5 mins to wiggle into and out of race leathers, plus removing your shoes, you'll never wear them commuting. And even if you did you'd bake to death in the heat and soak up all the water in the rain and be uncomfortable just the same. I intend to be wearing this any time I am on the bike, unless I am just running around only in town on a hot day I may opt for the mesh jacket/jeans combo. Otherwise, its just money (and safety) down the tubes.

if the gear isn't comfortable you won't use it. that is true. one guy i know low sided at about 100mph with his aeros and only suffered minor rash on his arms and legs. mostley in the ankle and wrist area.
