I said yes. Only because people are going to drink if they want to regardless of there being a bar or not.
On the other hand, I think they need to do a better job of keeping inebriated individuals from making passes.

Have they mentioned adding one or is this just a random thought? I voted no but the more I think about it.... If they put people in charge of cutting people off it might not be so bad.

I voted yes. But, with stipulations. It needs to be set up kinda like at a tractor pull. No alcohol in the pits. And the beer is only aloud in the beer tent area.

Seems like an odd combination. I guess if they have proper safeguards in place to keep the drunks out of the race cars it will work fine. Drunken fighting is going to go on at the track whether they completely ban alcohol and have German Shepherds sniffing cars on entry or not. People always find a way to get drunk and stupid.

This sounds like an absolutely terrible idea. I don't understand how they could keep people that have been drinking out of the cars. Who's going to be the one qualified enough to make the call or test every driver to see if they have been drinking? Sure, it could happen anyway...but this seems to almost endorse it and make it even more commonplace.

I agree with the last couple statements. But, then again like I said look at how truck & tractor pulls are ran. And alcohol will make Cordova more money if ran correctly.

I think the simplest solution is driver wrist bands. Also bar-tenders that take a good look at the wrist bands to make sure they haven't been cut and re-applied. Same goes for staging lanes. Show your wrist-band just before pulling into the water-box.

Im sure when someone files a claim against his NHRA license for a golf cart accident and we all have heard or seen that. Really not when the lanes are open but afterwards when racing is done. Lets go to the track bar then ride around the track all drunked up!!!

Even if there is wrist bands your buddy could always go get yours for you, it'll happen either way always will

I just don't see any difference whether they actively sell alcohol or people smuggle it in. The level of drunken idiocy will remain the same as it has for decades. If someone is going to sue they are going to sue whether there is a bar out there or not.
And if you bypass their procedures for alcohol then you have little legal ground to stand on when you do try and sue. People have raced drunk for years. Hell I know a guy who Mustang was wrecked by a drunk driver out there long before there was a bar in place.

Maybe they would have better track conditions if they made a few extra buck by selling spectators some booze, lots of extra capital there

This is part of the reason the prices went up for admission, racing, and track rentals.. their insurance went up due to the bar, a.k.a. zoomies pub.. They have always sold beer at the concession stands but now they can serve alcohol, and til 3 am.. something funny about it is when the food inspector comes in they close the bar and lock it up so she can't go in there

would love to see cordova dump the nhra affiliation. dont see a problem with the bar. i think anyone who takes racing serious will not have a problem. the midnight mayhams i could see a problem.
