I just switched out the radio/CD player in my '03 Chevy SSR. The new one is from an '05 and is locked.
Is there a way to unlock it without paying the dealer big bucks for 5 minutes worth of button-pushing?

I believe it requires a TECH II device as they have to do a VIN relearn on the radio. Not sure if there is anyway around it. Good luck and let us know if you find a way.

I had to take it to a dealer (McLaughlin's) to get it unlocked. Total charge: $51.79 - kinda stiff for five minutes of button-pushing, but better than having to install a whole new aftermarket system.

That's not horrible... I need the trailblazer flashed because of some issue GM had with them and they all want 95.00 or better to do it. Glad to hear they took care of it for you though.

For that price you might as well just throw in an aftermarket receiver, maybe it's just me.
