I thought I would see something here already... Apparently Scott Gardner (congrats) is the new president of the IHRA. His wife is running Cordova now (if I read that correctly), Cordova will now be an IHRA track and some new events are on the way. Article also states IRG "acquired" Cordova, Eddyville and CedarFalls in the deal. New ownership? I'm not entirely sure what this means other than Cordova isn't going anywhere soon? I saw some new construction going on recently so looks like more improvements on the way. qconline.com/archives/qco/display.php?id=659674

Hmmm. That is interesting. I guess the NHRA wasn't treating them too well.

I believe they will be keeping that. I can email Scott and find out though. I can't imagine them letting that go.
Fwiw this group bought a track in FL back in 2008 and put 30million into it. I don't know what their plans are but they have the funds and ability to do a lot.

They should probably get KCIR back up and going, that entire situation is FUBAR'd.
I don't know Scott that well, but I've been around him quite a bit and from what I can tell, he's got a lot of loyal people and does what he can and tries to do it the best he can.

Yeah I don't know him personally. A number of people from our service work on the emergency crew at the track and I've never heard anything negative. I believe he was also on the Albany village board for a number of years as well. Seems like a good guy and obviously the IHRA thinks so too.

Most who decide to go and race or t&t there will not notice a difference with the change. They will be hosting a nitro jam race in June with nitro dragsters and funny cars. So they should be able to draw big crowds for that. Bigger crowds equals more money for the track. The IHRA has been more sportsman friendly for many years now, so it should be better for anyone who uses the track.
