get the latest one bud!
they keep getting better, 1st one had low pixels, 2nd had 1080p, 3rd has a remote to turn camera off and on when you're unable to reach the camera... ya know what its hooked to your fender!
i have the 2nd and am happy with it, I'm sure they don't cost to much anymore aaaaaaannnd i think you can buy a remote to work with the 2nd version.

Definitely spend the money and get the hero3+ Black. Better battery life and lighter than the 3.
Buy an extra battery, they always seem to run out otherwise right before something epic happens.
Plan on filming everything...slow motion is especially fun... =)
