Im changing the oil pan gasket in the LT1 and i keep getting told to jack up the engine---i dont have a lift, where would be a suitable place to jack it up about 3 inches?? thanx

I would use an engine hoist. If you don't have one, I'm sure someone on here would let you borrow one.

Jack the car up and support it by the front unibody mounts (not cradle) get a engine hoist and support the engine, drop the front subframe down and replace that gasket. Hope it's not the rear main.

Remove the trans inspection cover and see if the oil is comming from around the back of the crank.

Wasnt the rear intake bad on lt1 cars? Did you check it first?
