Pulled the old 70K mile 3.1 out of my 1991 Z24 5 speed last friday: Friday night i swapped over the tranny from the 3.1 to the 3400 and installed a brand new stage 3 clutch and flywheel: Saturday morning i dropped in the 2002 3400: got it wired saturday and spent the rest of this week putting in new control arms, ball joints etc.. (few hours in the morning each day). After a few misc issues i got it started for the first time thursday. Today i wrapped everything up and finally took it out for a spin. Overall it runs pretty good, datalogs show a little knock around 3K rpm and a few more counts around 6200 RPM but the A/F looks good and everything else is stable. As soon as i finish welding the headers i'll swap them on, spend some time tuning it and then hit the track. it should be good for very low 14's/high 13's on street tires. roughly 260 HP/250 TQ in a 2600 lb car. ;D (Specs on the engine) 2002 3400 from an Olds Alero Ported & Polished heads Ported lower intake ported plenum LS1 valve springs (to get rid of the 6K valve float on stock springs) FFP underdrive pully crank scraper from 60degreev6.com home built 1.5" primary headers single 2.5" exhaust/high flow cat/Flowmaster 80 series should get about 20 MPG city and 25-30 on the highway too

Very cool, the new engine looks pretty badass! Can't wait to see it run.

Thanks guys!
The only real problem i have now is lack of traction... even in 3rd gear i can lay into it and lite the tires up. Damn FWD, lol

It does not matter if it is front wheel or rear wheel both have a lack or traction buy some drag radials and cure it. I just hate when the fwd inport guys all want to race from a roll because they "can't hook" It's a song as old as time anything with power has issues hooking and a fwd has more weight on the tires and should help. Very interesting good job.

Very interesting good job. very true... but don't forget, i have something the import boys don't have. lots of Torque. haha even from a roll i'm screwed, i think i need to find some better tires for the front.
