Ive had my car for about 7 months, with only minor problems and maintnence. Recently i changed the exhaust manifold gaskets, in which case i removed the spark plugs. I didnt remove the spark plug wires from the distributor, i just let them hang there. Well when i put everything back together it seemed to go well, but a few days later i started to get this nasty misfire. When i looked under i saw that my serp. belt had cut through the insulation on 2 of the wires on the pass. side. It seemed to Me that i put everything back on correctly, but obviously i didnt. Anyone with an LT1 have any advice on how to install these things correctly? I dont wanna fuck up the new set of MSD's i have. thanx
Also---does anyone know what the flow rate for the stock lt1 oil pump is? thanx again

ehhh... just put them all back into the stock clips man... You can see all the clips and then there is a metal plate/clip that pushes them up against the block so they don't touch the manifolds. If worst comes to worst a handful of zipties does wonders. Over the top of the valvecover wires are kinda GHETTTTTTOOOOOOO... You still run into the serpentine belt issues if not worse, and the longer your wires the more resistance there is in the wire=slow ass LT1 car and we all know theres enough of those around already.

To anyone whos changed those plug wires in an lt1? Do you really have to take the exhaust off to change one of the wires on the drivers' side to get the heat shield off? And second, does Anyone have any advice on how to get the wires to use the stock clips? I have a big ass AC tube right in the fuckin way and its damn near impossible to get em in the grooves. Thanx

Its a bitch man, some you have to get from under the car, some you have to get from the top. The driversides cake, heres a way to route the wires on the passangerside What wires did you use and what size? If you tried to stuff 8.5mm wires in the stock clamp, thats why they flew out and fried themselves. 7.5 is stock size, some put 8's in there, but if I was going with 8.5's on the passangerside, I would deffinatly get some over the valve cover routes, any set for a centerbolt sbc will work, or you can get the ones that run along hte side of hte valve cover, but since stock valve covers are nasty, route em up top.

Spuds how would any set from a small block Chevy work? Don't you remember that ghetto ass thing they call an opti on the front? Actually you can see right in the picture they don't use the same plug ins.

I think he meant the clips that hold the wires, not the wires themselves.

^nods^ yea when i was gonna get a new set of wires and looms, I was gonna do all new plugs, and I was gonna get over the valve cover looms, and they told me to go with regular SBC center bolt looms, someone makes a set of "LT-1 Specific" looms, for more money, but they are the same thing.. But they would look like shit on my car b/c my drivers side header has the #1 primary going over the rest, and there isn't room for the wire to go up from the spark plug, inbetween the header and the head... But this is just shit i've learned from reading, no REAL aquired experance... yet. Pwwww, never had such a indepth convo about a 10 dollor set of plastic looms. When I get Lts I'll get a new set of wires and over the valve cover looms woo, I almost sound like I kinda know what I'm talking about.
