the 2.2 tranny will fit but you are way better off finding a V6 trans.
Is this for a daily driver/winter car? or do you plan on abusing it a little?
you can usually find the V6 trannies at local junk yards for around $75. Since yours is a 93 it's got an internal slave so youre best off looking for a 93 or 94 trans.

the 4cyl trans won't last very long behind the V6.. a few high RPM shifts or good launches and it'll be done for. look for a V6 trans from a 93 or 94 Cavalier, Sunfire, Beretta, Corsica, etc... anything with a 3.1 and between those 2 years will fit fine. here are some specs.. they're kinda out-dated but are fairly accurate. www.v6z24.com/specs/in 92 they still had external slaves, 93-94 are internal.

get the v6 trans, on the cavalier/sunbird sites i used to be on, there weas nothing but complains about the swap to a 4cyl trans. ill help you with this swap too. also i still got a bunch of stuff from my old j-body that you can have for close to nothin or even free. gotta WAI and side skirts sittin here actually. buyt anyways, swap a v6's stock trans into it, let me know if you wanna look for a performance clutch btw. and i will help you swap it all for free. i gotta lotta time so i might as well do somthin with it. just curious, is this a z24? or a RS?
give me a call if u need any parts/help

z04beretta, we have the same rims... lol
the 90-91 Cavalier Muncie/Getrag tranny is rated for 350 HP and 350 TQ, the 92-94 is rumored to be the same... I've seen guys put over 400 HP to them w/o problems
Klemmie, that car should run mid 15's bone stock, just a few simple upgrades should net you a 15 flat or high 14... Just keep it under 5K RPM since the HP drops off at 4800... haha

superdave- lol i noticed the rim thing, its not my car, its my buddy's. mine should look almost the same, with different exhaust and different rims
klemme- dave's right when he says that those trans can handle power...people are running turbo sunbirds (sunbird gt's came with stock turbos)stock with the getrag 5 speed and trapping at mid 14's, people can do minor things to get them into low 13's. i dunno if you are lookin to make it quick, or just wantin some info but its a good project. i knocked my j-body down 3 seconds with under 300 into it. (obviously it was still slow).

The 3.1 responds to exhaust and intake stuff very well. and no i won't build you a set of headers ;D you should join up on www.v6z24.com, you'll find more repair information and performance stuff then you could ever imagine... haha *edit, just another note: www.turboz24.com/430 HP @ 16PSI on the stock 91 Z24 tranny (with an LSD) roughly tuned... he keeps breaking axels ;D
