I finally have my motor going good and in the car and went to put my new dynamic c4 in and it wont go up against the block it sits about a 1/4" away from the block and the converter was hitting the flexplate so hard you couldnt turn it over by hand. Before you ask yes the converter was all the way in, dynamic said I should have about 1-1 1/8" space from the front of the bell housing to the ears on the converter. what is the problem I cant get it in there and this guy who races a 10.5 outlaw car told me to space the belhousing from the block, that doesnt seem safe or reliable. Please Help!!!!!

There is a right way and a wrong way to put a convertor on an input shaft prior to putting it in the car. You know you can't just slide the convertor on right?

The converter should lock on three gears. So when you slide it on and turn it, it will slider further back on the input shaft 3 times.
Is it possible the flexplate is on backwards

like I said before you ask yes the coverter was all the way on yes it clicked 3 times. You guys must think I am a huge idiot to put the flexplate on backwards, plus that wouldnt work anyway because if you turned it backwards the gear would hit the blockplate and it wouldnt be flush up against the crank..

So now that we can get technical. The converter was all the way in the pump... The bolts for the converter were thru the flexplate..
Did you buy this transmission? it is the right one? It is not for a 351 is it? Maybe wrong bell housing

The problem is that you are using a ford tranny. Turbo-400 all the way. Teh c-4 bell for small ford will fit 289-351w. Is it like the doll pins wont go in any further or is the convertor keeping it from going in?

Does this converter have a "anti ballooning plate" on it?

none of that is the problem I figures it out it was a custom converter from Art Carr and the pilot on the front of the converter was to big for some reason they messed up and I had to send it back for a new one. Also I wasnt getting pissed I was just trying to help eliminate the obvious before I had 20 people telling me to make sure it was all the way in thats all
