I am looking into getting a cat back exhaust for my 2000 mustang gt. Is there any brands that you guys can recommend? Also I would like to stay below $400

flowmaster. period... the pipes aren't gonna make much of a difference. If you're trying to save money and just want better sound, just get some welded in. Pipes won't make much of a difference. Unless you're wanting all out loud. Then you'll want the SLP Loudmouth. Those are rediculous. I had an off-road h pipe with stock mufflers and it sounded pretty good on my '03. A bit meak, but healthy. But definitely not loud enough for me. Americanmuscle.com has always treated me well, and also partshopper.com and cal-mustang.com
good luck

my cousin's GF has Moroso spiral-flows on her '00 GT. I don't remember if it had 2.5" pipes or 3" but it sounds badass!

I've had the following cat-backs on my Mach 1.
Stock Flowmaster (GARBAGE - I WILL NEVER OWN ANYTHING FROM FLOWMASTER AGAIN!) Magnaflow Bassani
The only way to go in my book is Bassani. However, expect to pay a little over $400 for the non-stainless cat-back. My full stainless cat-back was $700.
If you're planning on leaving the manifolds and the H-pipe stock, I would also consider Borla Stingers.
Regardless, I would stay away from chambered systems. I've had both and I like the straight-through style kits a lot more.
