I'll be porting a few sets of heads this winter, just wondering if you guys knew of anyone with a flow bench that might be able to test them.
Thanks for any info, Dave

Thanks for any info, Dave Stealy Performance ;D location? if it's not to expencive i'd like to do a before and after on my new heads. One guy is claiming to have gotten over 290 CFM on the intake side after porting...

Ummm yeah porting heads is not an amatuer pursuit. I would get a couple sets of junk heads you can practice on and then take and flow test so you can see how bad you fucked them up and then pay someone that actually knows what they are doing to port your good ones.
Stealy is on the corner of Avenue of the Cities and 7th Street in E. Moline.

BTW... I'd do some reading on this. CFM has nothing to with how well they perform... Well a little bit. Has a lot to do with tumble and short side flow, etc... etc... etc... It's an exact science. But good luck anyways

I've been porting heads for years.. i'm not a newbie at it I know CFM isn't the greatest way to measure head performance but it gives you a good idea if your ports flow evenly all around. Tumble is tricky and i know all about the short side radius. These new GM heads are pretty much port matched from the factory, i'm just planning on fixing any casting lines and smoothing out the exhaust ports. They should be good for 300 HP easy... They aren't like the SBC heads i'm used to porting which take forever to clean up. Mostly i need to get the flow at different lifts so i can plan out the custom ground cam. Right now it loks like i'll be going around .570 or so with a 230-240 duration and a 108 LSA
