For LS1 heads your best bet is to buy a set from somebody reputable. For anything else I would imagine Stealey's, American Speed, Don West or anybody else would be a good avenue to try.

You can pick up the Darts and even some stock casting ported heads for so cheap, its almost not worth having a set ported. Look on LS1tech

you can port your own for under $100. It's really not that hard. Gasket match and clean up the casting marks is usually what they need. Newer heads are designed pretty well. Nothing like the old 70's stuff... lol

You'd probably see more gains not porting your own heads, LS1 heads are tricky and pretty sensitive, invest your money in suspension instead.

Yeah, a CNC head porting operation would have to be pretty large...

Yeah, a CNC head porting operation would have to be pretty large... I have yet to see a CNC porting job but it seems as though it would be easier to do it by hand. There are so many nooks and crannies to get into, i feel bad for the guy that has to program it.

Its hard to transcribe the art process of head porting into a CNC machine.

naw they do CNC head porting. If you contact them they will tell you the same. Also I have talked to a few guys from the area that have ahd work done by them and they all tell me they do CNC also. I haven't used them for anything myself so i am going on what I am told.

Im gonna go so far as to say that NOONE in this area does does CNC head porting. Only places with those type of capabilities USUALLY are large manufactures, in this case like AFR, BRODIX, etc... by the way, I used to work at American Speed

Yeah Jeremy... I know a few people off hand that have had heads done from American Speed... I believe they were all Willie Devoure customs... No CNC operations, atleast not as far as LS1 porting, maybe valvejobs

like i said I am going on what I was told. Also there are places smaller than AFR and Brodix that do CNC porting, look at advancedinduction.com, they have a LARGE reputation over at ls1tech. Patriot may have heard of them.

I owned a set of Ls1 ported heads from American speed. They were hand ported. My car went faster on the stock heads after a valve job and milled.

But hey for the first 5 minutes your car "felt" faster on the ported heads.

Oh there are smaller sized companies that do CNC port work, but American Speed just isn't one of them. I haven't heard much about advanced Induction.
