Mac or BBK? or . I usually run the macs, but the other day i installed one and instead of being a welded part to the firewall, like on my 86 GT was, it went into a rubber sleeve, which didnt fit at all, crappy design, and a bitch, but was on a 99 V6 mustang. are all the new mustang styles like that? its been 5 plus years since i been around mustangs, and looking for a 04 GT. thanks

That's a coin toss. Mac and BBK are notorious for being budget parts.
K&N and JLT are the best for the money.
I've had K&N Aircharger systems on my last three cars, and they've all been excellent.

Keep in mind that an all metal intake kit (Mac / BBK) will absorb a lot more heat than a non-metal intake system (K&N). A non-metal intake system will help slightly with air intake temperatures.
Regardless, if you're bent on getting a metal intake, go with a C&L.
Then again if looks are the most important factor for you, definitely go with whatever you think looks the best.
I've always thought the BBK kits looked great.

I have the MAC kit on my car. I would not buy another one. The rubber pieces fell apart coming out once. I replaced them at like 22 buck each. The intake is rusting on the inside, but I spray methanol/ water. If I was to do it again I would try the C&L kit. Also I like the fenderwell kits over the others. Just to keep some of the hot air out of the intake. My kit is 4 years old now and sprayed all the year too. Then again the hole set up might change completly if I superchange it with a Kenne Bell kit.

I have to say the JLT's are just the absolute best there is...but even though they dont look the greatest the K&N kits make decent power

My 98 V6 Saleen Clone (below) had a MAC Cold Air Intake and I never had any problems with it. I believe the 99 and 98 Engine Compartments are the same and the Cold Air Intake hooked up the same as my 89 GT Cold Air Intake. It goes into a metal plate that is bolted onto the fender wall.

nope I got rid of that thing about 6 years ago. Everything went with it sorry. If it wasn't for the kids and the woman I would have bought it back a couple months ago but I needed to get something to hall the kids to school. Typical lol.

I am gonna have to say neither. I have one on my car and they really dont make much of a diff. Throw in a high flow filter in the stock intake and you will gain almost the same hp. I am not saying that all cai are crap, some cars respond really well to them but the mustangs dont gain much with them.
