Well, my "secret" is out. Not a big deal, I just didn't tell but one or two people the subtle changes I was making over the winter. Thought I'd try a more "dig racing" approach this year. Sold the Bullitts and bought a set of slicks 'n skinnies. Here's a quick pic... whadya think? I knocked 100 pounds off with just the wheel swap (3.5" w/ 165s and 15x10s with 26x11.5 ET Streets), so set myself a goal of losing over 200 with no permanent changes. Small battery (machined a billet tray for it), manual driver's seat rack, rear seat delete, front sway bar, and a few other odds and ends and it lost about 210 punds, give or take a couple. Hopefully fixed some problems with my nitrous set up... time will tell. Still burning my winter gas, then will throw some plugs in and see how it feels. Rides a little different, to say the least!

Looks pretty bad ass those cars have always looked really good with slicks n skinnies... How much backspace do the rears have?

Ummm... I'm kind of USING it right now, Jesse! I've still got the IRS under there. Let's just say I'm gonna be doing a halfshaft longevity test!

Thanks Ryan! The rears are 15x10 XPs with 6.5" backspace. Weld Racing hailed the XPs as having more clearance for brakes... NOT! That is why I bought them, but I kinda like that they are a little different than all the "other" Draglites you see. I ended up using 1" bolt-on spacers all the way around. You HAVE to use them on the front of a Cobra, and the rears were just too tucked in relative to the fronts to not use them in back.

did the rears require any grinding at all

did the rears require any grinding at all Yeah... lots! Hey... that's weight loss I hadn't thought of! Add a few ounces to my above total! I may end up going with just a half inch spacer in the rear later on if I try to stuff a bigger drag radial under there when these wear out. (not too fond of the bias ply ride)

Looks good Jay. Make sure not to wear any big belt buckles and empty out your pockets before you race (weight saving tip from Dougly). Looks like im not the only one on slicks and skinnies this year. What tires are you running up front?

Thanks for the kind comments, guys. I got the bias as they were already on the used wheels I bought. Yeah... they kinda have a mind of their own. I just found where the regular Draglites weigh 5 pounds less a pc! Might have to do some shopping!

Looks like a desperate measure to me. Once a roll racer always a roll racer.

Don't worry... I still need the biggest mod of all: the driver mod! Pretty much ALL of you are safe in a race with me till I get that!

I can tell you that it looks good rolling down the road. It looks really low...did you change something there or is it my imagination?

I can tell you that it looks good rolling down the road. It looks really low...did you change something there or is it my imagination? Thanks! It's the same suspension-wise as it was, but the front tires are a little shorter, so I think that is what makes it lower. I look for my front lower valance lip to be disintegrated in a very short time!

Looks bad ass Jay! I am looking at getting some skinnies for the track. Currently I have the stock 17" set, 04 cobra satin style (which will have Bfg drag radial 275-40 and 315-35), and the 15" drag radial set. I need to get some backspacers! It makes the car look bad ass!
