Ok so I haven't really did much to my truck since I got it 2 years ago besides flowmasters & double hump heads for the longest time. Just recently it was running shittier then ever. My carb was junk so I thought maybe changing it would make it run better. So I took the Holly 650 vac sec off and put a Holly 750 double pump on it. Still ran like shit, then pulled the vacuum line off of the vacuum advance and seen that it wasn't even working. So pulled the whole distributer out and pulled it apart and it was all worn out. So I had an old one laying around praying it wasn't worn out like this one, put it on and it rips so much better. My distributer has been junk ever since I've had it. Before I couldn't even cruise over 55 without the motor screaming , now it cruises fine.
But any who I'm on my way too modding it a lil more and I'm pretty sure the rear end is going to go out soon. Not sure what to get yet? I think the 4.10's are a lil too much, was thinking 3.73's maybe, I'm not really educated on gearing and I thought someone on here might know. It's not going to be a daily driver b/c I'm leaving for boot camp in 2 weeks and my dad is going to start throwing a lot of money into it. So which route should I go? Ford 9 inch? Chevy 12 bolt? Dana? And what gearing? I don't wanna really buy junk then have to replace it. I'm willing to pay whatever to make it hold and not shatter down the road.
BTW.. It's getting a color change soon too, probably white. Tired of baby shit green

Are you looking to buy parts or is this a tech question?

I think that'll be a lil too steep for me. The 4.10's in it now are pretty steep. I'm just wondering what would be a good combo with a turbo 400? I also have a built 700 r4 that I could put in it too.

3.73's are a great universal gear i would go with them. 4.11's are good for in town driving but when you get on the highway the rpm's are a lil higher (for my standards) but ive never had a 700R4 trans so the gearing with the trans i have no clue.

go with a 3.42 or 3.23 gear. I had them in my S-10 with an LT1 and TH350. I loved those combos

you have to take in consideration if you are going to put mod's on the motor. or what motor you have? what type of "normal" driving and how far you go. if you are mostly in town and don't get on the highways or interstate much you can go to a steeper gear. you would be better off with a steeper gear on the 700r tranny rather than the 400. but also remember those whom have the LT1 have more hp / tq. depends how far you are taking the truck on the modification process. but its up to you what you want to do.

I have a set of richmond 3.73s that have never been used but they were mounted. The pinion nut threads need chased though due to a manufacturing problem.
